I am IronDad: Because Gab needs Hero

Being a Dad is my greatest challenge yet.  It makes me do things I have never done before. One of which is to be a hero for Gab. I have to be an IronDad!

Being an IronDad is like a Timex Ironman Run Trainer 2.0. which provides key information to runners and triathletes as they progress from start to finish. Likewise, I have tasks from Gab that starts when he wakes up, and ends when he sleeps. And here are my special powers that Gab demands from his IronDad:

IronDad and Gab

IronDad reporting for duty

IronFix Rush Attack – Why can’t they make indestructible toys? Gab would call IronDad when one of his toy lost a wheel, or severed an arm or drained a battery. Like a true hero, Gab will be amazed at how fast I would fix them back. I like how he says “Thank you, Daddy” afterwards.

Although sometimes, Gab would test my capablities. Upon seeing a broken and abandoned car on a vacant lot, Gab would say, “Daddy, fix that car oh.”

If toys could talk…

IronBrain Freeze Blast – Curiosity must be hereditary. (Ehem…) Gab would get me off guard with a barrage of questions. He would count in Filipino one day, and Spanish the next day. Then he’d ask me, “What’s number 20 in French, Daddy?” Boom! I really hate the number 20!

Every hero would have days like these when we just don’t know what’s coming. But heroes are always prepared. With my arsenal of high tech gadgets straight from the lab of S.H.I.E.L.D. I would answer calmly, “It’s vingt, Gab. Number 20 is vingt in French.”

IronBuild Barrage – Heroes invent new things to succeed in a new mission. IronDad is just the master of invention. I invented a pair of binoculars for Gab using the cylindrical cardboard from toilet papers. I invented a toy house out of a huge refrigirator box. I invented a toy rat out of a hangkerchief! Gab just enjoy these new toys.

I made sure I can fit inside too.

But kids never get contented. “Daddy, wala pa rocketship si Gab.” He loves to test the limits my powers. Of course, I made him this rocketship.
