Gab at 10

It’s Gab’s 10th Birthday.

Big milestone for us this year. So many changes and more changes to be expected as he enters the “wonder years”.

What makes this year even unique is that we are still on quarantine. Gab has only left the condo once since the lockdown started last March 2020. No worries. The show goes on!

Here’s Gab at 10

  • Gab weights 24.55 kls. He’s excited to see his weight go up. He is too heavy to be carried now.
  • He is now 135 cms tall. He is as tall as Quennie’s shoulders. We notice the growth spurts now. His long pajamas are turning into shorts.
  • He is losing plenty of his baby tooth. He removes them on his own when his tooth is almost falling off.
  • Gab goes vegetarian. Mommy ! has gone plant based last 2019 and Gab is happy to be vegetarian too. For his 10th birthday, he requested vegetarian Kare-kare for lunch. I was hoping for ice cream though.

Gab knows…

  • Periodic Table of Elements. I don’t know how he does it but he memorized the chemical names, symbols and atomic numbers of all the known elements. Mention the atomic number and he can name the element.
  • Earth Minerals and Gemstones. We started a collection last year and he links them to Chemistry by learning the chemical composition of the minerals. We have 19 so far. I would like to stop at 20 but I’m sure Gab wants to keep going.
  • Coding. We started just a few weeks ago and he enjoys it. Like father, like son.

Gab loves…

  • Cars!!! Still cars. He can’t get enough of it. I’m afraid we are running out of space for his toy cars. Sorry but some of them needs to move out. 😛
  • Movie Adaptation of Books. He used to hate watching movies. The emotion can be too much for him to handle. But now, he likes watching them as long as he reads the book first. We have watch the Secret Garden, Prince of Egypt, Joseph the Dreamer, The Series of Unfortunate Events, and more.
  • Asterix and Friends. He finds the comic series hilarious.

Gab hates…

  • Lack of Game Time. We always argue if I stop him short of his play time. He thinks it’s not enough. I think he is having too much. We would have a talk afterwards to meet halfway but sometimes we tend to forget and argue again. Well, just like daddy at his age…

Gab’s favorite pastime…

  • Board Games and Card Games. It is now a family routine that we play a card game or board game after dinner. Really good bonding time for the three of us. It has been a great way to end the day in high spirits.

Happy Birthday Gab.
