Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano Review

Melissa and Doug Learn-to-Play Paino is a durable mini piano for toddlers.  It sounds ok and the songbook that is included get us to play music right away.

The Melissa & Doug Learn-to-Play Piano comes with 25 keys and 2 full octaves.  It comes with a songbook containing classic children’s songs like Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star, Old MacDonald and London Bridge is Falling Down.  The songs in the songbook will be familiar to toddlers so they can play and sing along.

It has an attractive and bright colors.  Gab instantly played with it the moment we opened the box.  Well, he was more of banging on the keys than playing nice melodies on it.

PROs

  • Easy to follow color keys.  It’s easy to learn with the color keys that comes with the piano.  The color keys are also used in the songbook.  So you can easily follow the notes and play like a pro.
  • Safe and rounded edges. The piano doesn’t have pointed edges that can hurt the child in case they bump into the piano.
  • Durable keyboard.  The sound of the keys continue to remain good despite heavy beating.  Of course, it may breakdown after a while, but it may take years.  The paint also doesn’t wear off.  It still looks good as new.
  • Just the right size. I was worried that the piano will be too big.  Gab might have a hard time reaching it and it might eat up a lot of space at home.  Good thing, Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano was just the right size.  Toddlers will simply sit down to reach it and it fits just right on the corner.

CONs

  • Heavy for shipping.  I bought it online via Amazon and I paid a fortune for the shipping.  It weights 13.3 pounds.  Being heavy has it advantages too.  Gab can’t easily carry or push it around.  Thus, the Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano just stays in place.

SUMMARY

Melissa & Doug Learn-To-Play Piano is really a cool addition to Gab toys.  It’s durable and sounds well.  The size fit right into the corner without taking too much space.  We have the piano for a year already and it still looks good as new.

Does Gab know how to play a song already?  Well, music doesn’t really run in the family but I hope this piano will make changes in our genes as well. 😀
