How to Get Passport for Infants

Even babies need a passport to travel abroad. The Philippine Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has made passport application easy with the courtesy lane. We knew this when we inquired at the DFA passport appointment hotline when we applied for Gab’s passport.

Here are the requirements for your baby’s passport application that you need to prepare.

1. Accomplished passport application form. This form can be downloaded at the DFA website or given at the DFA.

2. Original Birth Certificate from NSO.

3. Marriage Certificate in printed in Security Paper, original and photocopy.

4. Passport of both parents, original and photocopy.

When you get to the courtesy lane, you will be directed to the steps from submitting the document, paying for the passport fee, having your baby’s picture taken and for the passport delivery service.

The DFA courtesy lane are originally for permanent government employees and their families. However, they have expanded their services to Senior Citizens, pregnant women and kids below one year old.

There is no appointment needed unlike the regular passport application and the whole process can be done in less than an hour!

For more information you can contact DFA at 556-0000/737-1000 or email epassport@dfa.gov.ph/passport.oca@yahoo.com or visit the official website for passport appointment: http://passport.com.ph/

The new DFA Office of the Consular Affairs in now located at Aseana Business Park, Macapagal Blvd. corner Bradco Ave, Brgy. Tambo, Paranaque City.  The building is near SM Mall of Asia.

  1. Hello! I hope you can help me with some confusion.

I would like to clarify a few things on getting a passport for an infant.

I have a one month old baby whom I will be applying for a passport soon. While we made an appointment, I am confused about the statement in the DFA website that says:

“Confirmed appointment (except for 1 year old and below)”

Does it mean that we can go to the DFA office on any day and time convenient to my below one year old baby?

Thanks. Hoping for your immediate reply.

  2. Oh, and can we go to any DFA office/satellite office (say, Macapagal) even if I submitted our application with the megamall.passport.com.ph

And sorry for the double double posts/questions. I’m getting really confused here. Sorry again.

  3. Hello Roxanne. From what we understand and based on our experience, no appointment is needed for those aged 1 year and below. Not sure on the satellite offices if they have the same set-up for infants. You can confirm this via the DFA hotline.

For us, we went to Macapagal, directly to the courtesy lane and submitted all the needed requirements. Hope this helps.

  4. Hello! I’m planning to get a passport for my 7 month old baby. Kelangan ba magdala nung affidavit of support and consent (got this from the dfa website) even if kami namang parents ang kasama ng baby mag-out-of-the-country? Thanks!

    1. There is no required affidavit when the child travels with the parents but you can contact DFA to verify in case they have changed policies.

  5. Hello , I have 4 month baby and i want get passport for him , what papers i should paper ? and you think it will be okay if i use the surname of father of my son even we are not yet married in passport of my son .. asap thanks

    1. Hi. The documents are the same. You have to make sure, as per DFA’s requirement, that the birth certificate from NSO reflects the surname of father with Affidavit of Acknowledgement and Consent to use the surname of father. Good luck!

  6. hi, can my sister accompany my newborn baby, kasi hindi pa ako pwedeng magbyahe and my husband is out of the country. Please help. Thanks!

    1. As per DFA’s guideline, only immediate family members are allowed to get the passport in behalf of the applicant. Immediate family members include father, mother, brother, sister, spouse and children of legal age.

You can apply for a passport when both of you and your baby are ready 🙂

  7. Hi! Would you happen to know if they still give out application forms at the dfa? I’m planning to go tomorrow morning to get my baby’s passport, but have no access to a printer tonight. Besides, when I tried to fill out the application form online, it directed to an appointment date, and I don’t need that anyway, since my son is still below 1yo. Thanks!

  8. Hi there! just want to clarify what if my husband’s passport is not available to submit because he’s in Australia? is it okay if I’ll just submit my passport (though I have a scanned copy of his passport)??? coz you said there that the requirement should be the passport of “both” parents. I’m kind of confused about that. And also about the Marriage Cert. does it have to be NSO authenticated as well? I’ll wait for your response. Thank you! =)

  9. Hi Joanne. That’s the requirement given to us. On DFA’s site here are the general requirements (ID and Marriage certificate):

•Marriage Certificate of minor’s parents duly authenticated by NSO
•Original and photocopy of valid passport of the person traveling with the minor
•Photocopy of valid passport of either parent (if minor is a legitimate child) / of mother (if minor is an illegitimate child) or identification documents

    Hope this helps 🙂
