Best Animal Books for Kids and Toddlers

Gab is fascinated by animals after we have him a big book about animals.  He loves looking at the pictures and reading the names and the facts about each animal.  It is really fun reading it with him because at the same time, I get to learn new things too.

Here are some books about animal which are great for 3-5 years old. Actually they are just as good for older kids too.

Nat Geo Wild Animal Atlas: Earth’s Astonishing Animals and Where They Live (National Geographic Kids) – This is the first book I bought for Gab about animals.  It has big and clear pictures and fascinating facts. It includes information on where they like by continents and countries, so you can learn some geography with this book too.

My Big Animal Book (My Big Board Books) – This book is perfect for beginner readers. It contains photos and names of adorable animals. Not much of a reading material but it’s great for helping kids identify animals and building vocabulary.  It’s a board book so it’s sturdy and safe even for babies.

DK Encyclopedia of Animals – Geared for older kids, this book is a classic. Beautiful pictures in a page layout that can WOW readers of all ages. It’s A-Z encyclopedia offers children fascinating insight into the behaviors, biology, and environments of their favorite animals.

National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia: 2,500 Animals with Photos, Maps, and More! – A more kid friendly format, the National Geographic Animal Encyclopedia has high quality pictures, big text and a colorful layout. The Animal Book – by Steve Jenkins is a color-rich cut- and torn-paper artwork book with more than three hundred animals. Sections such as “Animal Senses,” “Animal Extremes,” and “The Story of Life” burst with fascinating facts and infographics. Kids would love animals and art in this book.
