Product Review: Chino Pino Cloth Diapers

Before giving birth, we decided to use cloth and reusable diapers. I received this a present from my sister when I was about 5 months pregnant with Gab. Gab used Chino Pinos for 3 months. He outgrew them when he was 6 months and we got him the all-in-one cloth diapers.

In Manila, Chino Pino Cloth Diapers are available at SM Department Stores, Baby Company and Rustan’s outlets.

Here’s the Pros and Cons of the Chino Pino Cloth Diapers

Chino Pino

PROS

Fitted diapers.  They are similar to lampin but are shaped exactly like regular diapers. It saves you the time and hassle of folding and twisting square cloth to fit the baby.

Adjustable.  The diapers have two  velcro adjustments on the waist to adapt to a growing baby. There’s no need of pins and clips to keep the diapers in place.

Easy to wash and dries quickly.  As the material is made of cotton gauze, it can be easily machine or hand washed and even put in the dryer to speed up drying time.

CONS

One-size-fits-all.  Chino Pinos are available in just one size. It was way too big for Gab when he was just a new born, it do not fit snugly. We started using it when he was about 3 months old. Gab outgrew them when he was on his 6th month and we need to find a replacement.

Thin cotton gauze layers.  The Chino Pino prefolds are thin – outer panel only has 2 layers and 3 layesr for the inner panel.  As a remedy, we use a nappy liners to keepp Gab comfy and dry. The liners also helps keep the poop from sticking to the cloth diaper so they are easier to wash.

Not leak proof.  Material is made from the same material as lampin or cotton gauze and do not have waterproof lining. Thus, we paired this with a diaper cover with waterproof lining to prevent leaks and poopy blowouts.
