Medela Pump in Style Advanced Review

I got this heavy duty, daily use pump from Medela when Gab was around 7 months. For the first 6 months, I was using the light weight Medela Mini Electric.

Here are the product features of Medela Pump in Style Advanced

* Uses standard outlet with AC adapter or battery pack, or can be used by manual operation
* Durable motor for heavy duty pumping
* Single or double pumping accessory kit
* Simple adjustment for suction/vacuum levels
* Removable cooler carrier, contoured ice pack, 4 bottles with lids and 2 holders
* Comes with a stylish black microfiber backpack
* Natural Expression two-stage system that simulates baby’s actual nursing patterns
* Exclusive one touch let-down button

Since pump in style advance pumps both breasts at once, expressing milk is quick and efficient – in 10-15 minutes, I’m done! Having used the Medela mini electric, this pump has a quiet motor that lets you express discreetly. It does not disturb Gab when he nurse on one side and I express milk on the other side.

The challenge when using this double pump. Since it has no hands free feature, what usually worked for me is using my left inner arm to hold the shield in place and held the other sheild  with my left hand. My right hand is then free to adjust the speed of the vacuum or do other stuff other that pumping.

Aside from being stopped at mall entrance or in a train station for security inspection of the backpack contents – motor, milk and all, overall, I’m happy Medela Pump In Style Advanced user.

Medela Breast pumps are available in Rustan’s and Mothercare brances. I got mine from Medela House at a sale price. Pump in Style Advance costs from Php16,000 to Php22,000.
