Food Art – Tow Mater Sandwich

Gab loves cars. This food art is Tow Mater from the animated movie Cars. I got this idea from a similar food art I found in the internet.

Tow Mater is favorite character for kids.  I’ve seen Tow Mater Cakes, Tow Mater biscuits, Tow Mater muffins and Tow Mater sandwiches.

I thought making this food art was easy since I just need to cut the shapes from bread. I realized that slicing soft bread can be difficult.  Here’s a tip: Place the bread on the ref overnight before cutting.  It makes the bread a bit stiff and easier to cut.

Food Art - Tow Mater

Tow Mater is composed of three layers of bread. I use a chocolate chip bread of Gardenia. The brown color is perfect for the Tow Mater who is brown as well.

Here’s what is on Gab’s plate.

Food Art - Tow Mater Notes

1 Chocolate Chip Bread – All of Tow Mater’s body is made of bread.  I had to cut the bread into the appropriate shape and stack them one after the other.  There is three layers of bread in all.

2 Cheese – The eyes, teeth and headlamp is made of sliced cheese.  I used a knife to cut them into shapes.

3 Cereals and Muesli – Some final touch to the whole plate.  This make it look like Tow Mater is running over some rough patches on the road.

Gab really enjoyed this one. He doesn’t like to eat it. I can’t even touch it.

He did eat eventually. Yaya took the bread piece by piece and feed it to Gab. He did not know it was Tow Mater already until he was half way .

Guess what Gab said after eating.

“Daddy, Lightning McQueen next ha!”

Now that is a challenge.
