A Birthday Without a Cake is a No-No

After the romantic breakfast I prepared for Quennie’s birthday, we told Gab it was Mommy’s birthday.  However, Gab won’t believe us.  He still thinks it was Tita Weng’s birthday who celebrated it a few weeks ago.  To Gab, something was missing that he can’t call it Mommy’s birthday yet.

“Who’s birthday is it, Gab?” We asked.

“It’s Tita Weng’s.”

“No Gab.  It’s Mommy birthday,”  we tried to insist.

“No.  There is no Mommy’s cake,” Gab explains.

Now we get it.  It’s not officially your birthday without a cake.  Tita Weng celebrated her birthday with us a few days ago.  There was food and a birthday cake.  Gab sang the Happy Birthday song and even blew the candle on Tita Weng’s birthday cake.  Since it was the last birthday he remembers, he won’t acknowledge another birthday if he doesn’t see a birthday cake.

Just happy to see the cake

So to make Quennie’s birthday “official” for Gab, we had a last minute shopping for a birthday cake for dinner.  It was a simple celebration.  No balloons.  No party hats. No special food.  Just the usual dinner and, of course, the birthday cake.

We showed Gab the birthday cake and showed that it has the word MOMMY on it.  Then, we lighted up the candle and Gab sang the birthday song with us.  Then we let Gab do the honor of blowing the candle for Mommy.  We all clapped afterwards and asked Gab the questions again.

“Who’s birthday is it Gab?”

“It’s Mommy’s Birthday!!! M-O-M-M-Y. Mommy!!!”

There you go, we finally made things clear for Gab.

Sorry for confusing you, little one.  😀
