This year, my goal is to teach Gab to read. Or at least show Gab how fun reading can be. Every night, Quennie and I would read a book to him. I guess our strategies are effective. Finally, here is Gab “reading” one of his book.
Gab just turned two years old. Impressed?
Well, Gab has a trick. He can’t read the words yet. Instead, he memorized the book page by page. He actually memorized 12 other small books of 4-5 pages. He would open a page and move his fingers across the words. He would then recite it from memory. You’d really think he can read already.
Give him a new book and he has no idea what it is. But read it to him for a week and he would surely recall the lines in every page.
Perhaps, it’s a start to reading. At least, he likes a book over my iPad. And that is a big development.
THat could be the start of sight reading. 🙂 Try showing him the same words independently. Maybe the word “STAR” 🙂 then try dissecting
the letters soon
Hi Teacher!!! Oo nga e. Sight Words works for him. We have magnetic letters that we show him a few words. He knows to read and spell his name na. Then a few 3 letter words. Quite happy with the progress on his reading skills and he shows interests in books na. 😀
Wow he’s so cute! Congratulations for having a smart son. I’m sure he’ll learn how to really read the words soon because you’re teaching him the habit at an early age 🙂
Thanks for dropping by Jovell. We surely hope he likes and will enjoy reading. Im excited that I sometimes feel I might be pushing it too much on the baby. Hehehe…
Congrats 🙂 il tell you about this reading book m reviewing when we meet 🙂
