Gab turns 4 years old

Gab turns four! Gone are the years for Gab as a terrible three and a terrible two but I think there should be an equiavalent for four year olds.

This is Gab at Four.

  • Gab weighs 14 kilos.  Very little gain after a year but he wants to reach 15 kls.
  • Gab is 99 cms tall.

Gab knows…

  • How to really read!  He can read anything this time.  He can read books designed for 6 years old with ease.  I was inspired by videos of kids who can read before they reach 4 years old and I am happy Gab is like them too.
  • How to spell.  He can spell words with 3-4 letters easily.  Words with more than 6 takes time but he can do it after a little practice.
  • Names of buses and taxis.  He can spot a Ceres Transport, Gloren Trans, Metrolink and other buses from a block away.  He knows what a Faith, 768, Airport Taxis and G&C taxi look like.
  • How to ride a bike.  Lolo got him a Strider bike early this year and spent months riding on it.  He stopped during the rainy season but we’re looking forward to more rides this year.
  • How to tell the time with the short and long hands of a clock.  He takes note what time he baths, sleeps, plays, or go home.
  • A little Ilonggo. I think he likes to learn the language. Whenever Quennie and I converse in Ilonggo, Gab would interrupt to ask what we were talking about.

Gab doesn’t know…

  • How to clean up. I hate it then I step on his toys which are just all over the place.  We don’t even have a living room anymore because his toys are being “parked” there.
  • Gab does not know Filipino (except for the bahay kubo song and the vegetables mentioned there)

Gab loves

  • CARS!!! It’s still about cars.  He can’t get enough of them.
  • Draw.. what else but cars, buses, trains, and taxis.
  • Asking “Why” questions, followed by “because” and “so that…”
  • Big taxis.  He cries if he can’t ride one.
  • Parks. He loves the open space to run or ride.
  • Tigger, Gina and Churp Churp.  Among this stuffed animals these three are Gab’s favorite.  He brings them on the plane to Bacolod and talks to them like they have a live of their own.
  • Blurred pictures. We can’t take a decent photo of Gab. He would shake his head to get the blurred effect.

  • Jollibee. For the 3rd year in a row, Gab will have his birthday party there.
  • Loves to help mommy cook.  He knows the ingredients and procedures to cook rice, laswa soup and torta talong.
  • Gab loves insects, mini beasts and animals. He touches snails, big lizzard at lolo’s farm
  • Gab loves video call more than the regular voice calls only.

Gab’s Favorite Pastime

  • Draw. We are running out of papers at home for his doodles.  It’s nice to see how his drawings improve with more details.
  • Make up words. Fiewing, Fic, and Squoot are some words he just make up this year.  He even tells you how is words are spelled.  I should post the Gab’s own dictionary soon.
  • Sing “Froggy Song”.  He can still memorize this song he made up a year ago.
  • Dugsing or rough play.  He would call us to go inside the bedroom for some fun.  It can be anytime of the day but most often before bedtime.

Gab doesn’t like

  • Diapers and milk in a bottle.  He finally outgrew these.  I am so happy since it is an item less in the grocery list.
  • Watching TV. We still don’t have the TV at home so Gab is not used to watching TV. He would prefer if turned OFF when at other peoples’ houses.
  • Houseflies in his play area. It distracts him.

Happy Birthday Gab!
