Gab and Blue Strider

Gab finally gets his first bike.  It’s a balance bike.  It’s his personal request that it should be color blue.  Meet Blue Strider.

First, I have to rant.  My father bought me a bike but with a condition.  I have to keep high grades for several quarters before I get my bike.  But for Gab, all it took was one cute photo with a bike and my father bought one for him.  It even costs 3 times more than my first bike!  Grandfathers really spoil their grandsons. 😀

Gab was just beaming the whole day.  He woke up early than usual and waited for Lolo to arrive.  He knows something special will happen today.  We got Gab a blue Strider Balance Bike from BPM in Makati.  It was the perfect color and Gab looks great on it.

For safety, I only require that Gab should wear a helmet.  But Quennie insists on knee pads and elbow pads.  My point is that, the sooner Gab gets wounded, the sooner he learns to bike. 😛  Anyway, Lolo and Lola bought him the pads as well, so I concede.  But when we went to the park, we saw young girls gliding on their balance bikes without helmets or pads.  Gab has just been chicked!

Gab just kept pushing his new bike the whole afternoon.  He doesn’t seem to get tired.  He’d go down the grass and go up the pavement.  Then he’d park his bike on a palm tree and run to the grass.  Then he’d go back to ride his bike again.  He’d repeat it several times until he sees another place to push his bike around.

It’s like Gab just had the best day of his life!  I know that feeling.  I had my first bike too.

But we know he was sleepy already.  He eventually fell asleep on the taxi on the way to dinner.  Back at home, he kept on running back to the living room to check on his bike before going to sleep.  As if the bike will be going somewhere.  I even thought he’d sleep with it for the night.
