What Pet Should I Get Sneak Peek
Dr. Seuss is back with a new book entitled What Pet Should I Get? to be released on July 28, 2015. It is based on a recently discovered manuscript likely written between 1958 and 1962. The book features the same brother and sister seen in Dr. Seuss’ 1960 classic One Fish Two Fish Red Fish Blue Fish
.
What Pet Should I Get? is now available for pre-orders. Click the image below to pre-order the book.
Suessville.com describes it as “the literary equivalent of buried treasure! What happens when a brother and sister visit a pet store to pick a pet? Naturally, they can’t choose just one! The tale captures a classic childhood moment—choosing a pet—and uses it to illuminate a life lesson: that it is hard to make up your mind, but sometimes you just have to do it! ”
A sample from a page reads Dr. Seuss familiar rhymes.
But we have to pick ONE pet
And pick it out soon.
You know mother told us
To get back by noon!

Dr. Seuss whose real name was Theodor Geisel died in 1991 at the age of 87.
Random House Children’s Book plans at least two more books based on materials found in 2013 by his widow, Audrey Geisel, and his secretary in the author’s home in the ritzy seaside neighborhood of La Jolla in San Diego.
We have 3 books by Dr. Seuss and Gab loves reading all them. The simple words and rhymes was easy for Gab to memorize many parts of the book. I am sure “What Pet Should I Get” will have a place in the hearts of many children.
Be sure to pre-order What Pet Should I Get? here. The book will be released on July 28.

ABC Phonics Rhyming Words App Review
ABC Phonics Rhyming Words is a simple app for kids that explores a lot of rhyming words. The child simply has to match two rhyming words from a set of four and win jewels to unlock mini-games within the app.
Rhyming words are important in developing proficient readers. Several researches has showed that the better children are at detecting rhymes the quicker and more successful they will be at learning to read.
Rhyming words also helps in spelling since these words usually share the same spelling sequence. So if you can spell cat, you can also spell bat, rat and mat. This also applies to reading, if you can read “bug,” you can read mug, hug and jug.
ABC Phonics Rhyming Words has a huge list of rhyming words for kids to play with. The main page let’s you pick three to master or let the app choose randomly.

FunRhyming is a Universal App, so it works with both iPhone and iPad.This game provides many hours of enjoyment. Children are challenged to win “jewels” for successful completion of each level. After collecting enough jewels, they are rewarded
with a bonus mini-game, allowing them to trace or color a picture, create sparkles on the screen, and pop bubbles. Your child will be so involved in achieving each goal, that they
won’t realize how much they are learning.By matching rhyming words, this game helps children recognize common word patterns, and understand how the initial consonant, middle vowel, and ending consonant affect pronunciation. They will learn to distinguish between long and short vowel sounds, and they will learn to pronounce consonant combination, such as “ch” and “sh”. These are all important stepping stones to becoming a proficient reader.
This game is is like like having a private tutor to teach your child one on one.
ABC Phonics Rhyming Words App Review
PROs
- Huge list of rhyming words. There are 30 common phonic sounds to play with. This is a big list and a fun way to learn to read and spell.
- Easy to play. The games is simple to use. Even Gab at 4-year-old is able to figure out how to use it without me telling him what to do.
- Limitless Score. The apps keeps a score of how many right and how many were incorrect. There is no limit on the score and the score does not affect the game play. Children can play and learn endlessly.
Gab just played and played for almost 200 sets.
CONs
- Overlapping fruits. This seems to be a minor glitch but sometimes the fruits overlaps and you can’t see the words anymore.
- Expensive. The full version costs 3.99 USD. I find the app rather simple and I think it should have been priced a bit lower.
ABC Phonics Rhyming Words App Review Summary
The huge word list will keep children busy with new words and new rhymes to learn. The scores seems endless and will keep the children busy for a long time.
The price of the app is however a turn-off. I am sure there can be other similar apps that are cheaper.

REPOST: My Wedding Proposal
It wasn’t the perfect place. It wasn’t the perfect night. But I was with the perfect girl.
It was the usual Friday for her. She would be leaving for business trip so I told her I want to have dinner with her before she leaves. She had no idea what was going to happen that night.
