How to choose baby’s first shoes

Gab is used to wearing socks when going out and he’s barefoot when at home. These past few days, we noticed that he loves standing often and he’s now able to pull himself up. Soon enough, we are expecting him to love cruising and then walking. It’s about time we prepare for his first shoes!

Here are some shoe shopping tips from babycenter:

1. Choose a sneaker or a shoes with breathable and lightweight upper material like canvass, cloth, or soft leather.
2. Soles should be flexible with good traction.
3. Check for fit, there should be wiggle room for the toes.
4. For shoes with laces, lace should be long enough to double knot.
5. Shop later in the day as the feet expand about 5% by the end of the day.

Medical experts agree that when it comes to the healthy development of little feet, and even in adults, barefoot is best. It’s the reason why these same experts recommend soft, flexible-soled footwear for both infants and children as they’re the next best thing to being barefoot.

Another thing we will consider is, the shoes should be easy to get on and off but difficult for the Gab to take off. Those with Velcro or those with elastic laces are good options.

We are excited for our shoe shopping. We hope Gab is excited to wear his first shoes!
