Buying a Ladies Bag Is a Difficult Task

I decided to give a bag for Quennie on her birthday this year. But I never thought the process can be stressful. So many choices.  So many questions.

I don’t remember the last time I gave Quennie a bag but it was a big laptop bag she can bring to work. This year, I was looking for a bag that she can bring when we travel or go to the mall.

I did not realize that there are several questions to consider in buying Quennie the bag. I mean… all these questions for a bag?

The Names

I first thought of giving a designer bag so I asked a few friends on what brands to look for. They asked me back what brands do I think Quennie will like.

Oh-uh… I tried my best to remember some of the names.

I confidently mentioned Marc Kors and Michael Jacobs not knowing that I have interchanged their names. I mentioned Louis Vuitton and that it is not in my budget right now. But at least, I said the name correctly.

“Oh, what do you think about John Choo?” I asked. It’s Jimmy Choo, they replied. I got corrected again. Note to self: John Cho is an actor; Jimmy Choo is the designer.

I got careful on my next name. “Oh, and there’s another brand I saw with some T on it’s logo. Tony… something.” I then learned, it’s Tory Burch. At least, I didn’t massacre the name too much.

The Price

I did a window shopping afterwards by visiting these stores. Designer bags ranged from 20,000 pesos to 60,000 pesos. Ridicolous prices but I expected that. I did like some bags at Michael Kors and Furla. I think Quennie would like them too.

The prices were scary.  But what scares me the most is Quennie’s reaction if I get her an expensive bag. Knowing Quennie, she prefers something more practical than going for brands.

An A-ha Moment

That is when I remember a good friend who designs and sells great bags for women. Abby Jocson. She’s the designer. She’s the brand. The name is easy to remember too. I have seen her designs and I know Quennie loves it. The bags are modern, functional, and chic. Best of all, I can easily consult her on which of her designs is best for Quennie.

I got excited and gave her a message on BBM. I thought the selection process will now be easy but she gave me more questions than I can handle.

The Types

“Halu Abby. Que’s bday is coming soon. Any recommendation from your bag collection?” I asked.

“Type ba nya shoulder bag or sling bag?”

Silence.

More silence.

“I don’t know the difference,” I finally replied.

I just mentioned that I would like a bag Quennie can use to travel or go to a mall. Something big enough to include Gab’s stuff as well.

Abby replied that she will be sending me photos of her bags that fits my requirements.
Perfect! This will make my selection process easier.

Abby sent me three photos. Eureka! They all matched what I would like to see. I decided to get the Julia and Erin designs.

The Colors

“What color ng Erin pala?”

Urgh! Not another bag question. So I reread her email for the choices. It says, “Erin comes in taupe, red, black, navy blue.”

Taupe?!?!?! What kind of a name for a color is that?

Abby said taupe is like mocha color. I still can’t visualize what a mocha color is but I picked taupe out of curiousity.

Final Question

There were more questions but just on when I can get the bag, where do we meet up and how I make the payment. Abby was very helpful and I am glad to be getting the bags for Quennie from her.

Then again, all these questions for a bag?
