Vehicle-Themed Color-Cut-Paste Worksheets for Toddlers

Here’s a great activity for kids that combines several skills at one time. It’s great for learning colors, shapes and also honing those cutting skills. So get those paper and scissors ready and have fun with these worksheets.

These are vehicle-themed worksheets. Gab loves vehicle and he is the one who dictate what vehicle he’ll work with. First is the School Bus worksheet, then the Fire Truck Worksheet. He is asking for an Ambulance Worksheet next. I’ll add more worksheets here as we go along.

Using scissors is a good practice for developing the fine motor skills of children. It’s actually a complicated skill. It requires lots of hand-and-eye coordination and good control of the hands and fingers. So don’t rush in teaching. It will take time for children to master the use of scissors.

If your child is not ready to do the cutting themselves, adults can do the cutting instead and let the child color and paste.

The worksheet on school bus is a good start. It has the basic shapes and requires cutting mostly in a straight line. Cutting the circles for the wheels is more complicated. I suggest that this will be done by the adult for now.

Daddy Tips

1. Choose a scissors that is designed for small fingers. The thumb and index fingers must fit securely and comfortably in the handle.

2. Start by giving out safety rules when using a scissors. Parents.com has a quick and short list of guidelines for using scissors which you can teach your child before starting.

3. For starters, adults will do the cutting first and let the child finish the easy ones.

4. Talk about the colors and the shapes. Discuss what the vehicle is about and what it is for.

5. You can keep the paste worksheet guide and let the child paste the parts like a puzzle.

6. Have fun. Laugh and giggle over mistakes. Praise the effort and encourage.

Instructions

1. Print out the Color-and-Cut worksheet and the Paste Worksheet.  Printing the Guide Sheet is optional.

2. Color the parts and cut them out afterwards.

3. Paste the colored parts into the Paste Worksheet.

Gab was right beside me while working on the City Bus Worksheet.  He helped in the design.  He pointed where the doors should be, how the engine door should be designed, and where the gasoline tank be located.  That’s micro management from a toddler!
