I cooked my own vegetarian mushroom burger last weekend. I got the recipe from Yummy magazine and a book. I just mixed them up for my own mushroom burger recipe. Now, I don’t need to go to Mushroom Burger in Tagaytay.
This recipe uses 100% mushroom. No beef will be used.
Ingredients:
500 grams mixed mushrooms, roughly chopped
2/3 cups rolled oats
1/3 cup parmesan cheese
3/4 cup breadcrumbs
2 beaten eggs
1 tsp oregano leaves, dried
1/2 cup onions, chopped
3 tsbp garlic, minced
1/4 tsp pepper
2 tsp salt, or to taste
1 tsbp cornstarch
Procedure:
1. Simply mix all ingredients together in a bowl.
2. Form into patties.
3. Deep fry until golden brown.
4. Serve with buns and garnish.
Some notes:
1. I prefer the patties to be a bit thin. If too thick, the mushroom flavor might be to strong if not used to vegetarian dishes.
2. For the mushrooms, I used shiitake mushrooms and oyster mushrooms. They are cheaper than portobello mushrooms.
3. The mixture will be a bit moist because of the egg. I prefer this so that the patties will hold itself together.
How did you like the recipe? Any suggestions to make this even more delicious?
sounds and look perfect, good thing for you Jin, homecooking is the best. And vegetarian too, two thumbs plus feet up 🙂
@betchai. Challenging recipe though. But it was worth it.
thumbs up…interesting recipe, i will try this.
what kind of mushroom did you use?
I used shiitake and oyster mushrooms. They are cheaper. You may need to remove some moisture from the oyster mushroom by shaking them vigorously.
