Product Review: Aprica Baby Carrier

We use a baby carrier instead of a stroller whenever we travel with Gab.  We prefer the baby carrier so that Gab has more freedom to move and observe his surroundings.  We bought a baby carrier by Aprica at SM Department store.  It can be used four ways and is very durable.

Aprica is a brand from Japan.  That is why the manual that goes with the baby carrier is in Japanese.  We just have to follow the photos to learn how to use it properly.  The sales clerk was very helpful to show us how it works as well.

Aprica baby carriers can be positioned four ways.  The baby can be placed in front with his body facing forward or backward.  It can also act as a sling when feeding the baby.  And can be carried at the back like a knapsack.  Gab loves it best when is placed in front facing forward.

Aprica Baby Carrier

There are a lot of similar carriers in the market.  What we like about Aprica is the minimal design.  It has few clips, straps and few adjustments.  Others have so many possible positions with a lot of straps that seem to tangle and strangle the baby.  With its minimalist design, Aprica is just simple and easy to use.

The simple design allows us to put Gab in and out of the carrier fast.  But it is best if both parents help each other in putting the baby into the carrier.  Usually, Quennie will wear the carrier while I carry Gab and fit him in.

The clips are secure and durable.  We feel that Gab will be safe when he is being carried by the carrier.  Based on the manual, it can carry even a toddler.

The material is soft and comfortable.  The clips are also hidden away from the skin when used so the baby doesn’t get nasty marks from them.

However, they don’t have an ergonomic design.  It doesn’t have  a back support like other designs.  So when Gab gets heavier, it will be a challenge to carry him around.

Overall, the Aprica Baby Carrier is comfortable and safe.  I’m sure this product will last longer than when Gab outgrows them.

  1. We love baby carrying too and we got the baba sling. We don’t have the aprika brand here but I’m also happy with baba sling… it’s really easy to use. What I like best about it is it’s ergonomic for the baby. The legs are raised high up to the level of her hip and not just hanging like how it is normally with babybjorn… there had been talks about ergonomic baby carriers between pedias and they recommend those carriers that doesn’t let the babies’ legs hang all the way down. The big plus about baba sling is that I can manage on it alone… I don’t need anyone to carry the baby while I prepare on fitting the carrier on me… the big downside? Now that Tala is really heavy, my back gets tired more easily… like about 30minutes walking, I can already feel my back too worked out. But it is supposed to be good from 9kg to 15kgs – meaning roughly up to 3yrs old.

Ha, did I just put a product review on a comment? Sorry I got carried away 😀

Btw, Que and Gab look really cute on the photo!
