Minions Counting Flashcards

Gab loves his Minions toys which I got from McDonald’s Happy Meal.  So I came up with this idea to make the Minions Counting Flashcards.  This would help spice up one of our Math activities on more than and less than.

Gab looked bored with counting since I knew his numbers already.  But I needed to make things interesting and thought making a flashcard with Minions on it.

I started the Minions Counting Flashcards from 1-10 only.  But I decided to add 11-20 and a few more cards for skip counting by 10s.  Skip counting would be very helpful to speed up his counting skills but he seems not ready for them yet.  He would still count the set of 10 individually.  So I’m keeping them for now and stick with 1-10 first.  Then progress to 11-20 and later introduce the skip counting again.

Daddy Tips:

1.  For beginners, don’t show all the cards all at once.  It can be overwhelming for kids.  Start with 2-3 cards at a time.  Probably with 1-2-3 first. As they master the first set of numbers, add the next set or just add one card.  Find out what works best for your child.

2. Find the best time of the day to show the flashcards.  If the child is not yet interested, don’t force it.  But do show them the flashcards once in a while to build interest.

3. Chances are, the first time a child sees the flashcard, they will think it’s a toy and will play with it instead.  😀  Just let them play with it.  Interrupt once in while to ask a few questions. It’s a good way to establish an idea that learning Math is actually fun.
